Do you sponsor visas for international applicants?
We can offer visa sponsorship for experienced hires in our UK offices – unfortunately we are not currently able to sponsor visas for graduate analysts or interns in either our UK or US offices. Graduates and interns must have the right to work in their respective office on the date that they are due to start.
Can I apply to multiple offices?
Unfortunately, we don’t allow applicants to apply for multiple offices, given that our office locations offer very different living experiences. We encourage applicants to think about which office would suit them best and make a conscious decision to apply to that one only, rather than a blanket application to CIL in general.
I’ve applied to CIL in the past. Can I re-apply for the same role?
There are instances where a candidate who has been unsuccessful in later interview rounds have come back and been offered a role. However, anyone wanting to re-apply would need to wait until the next recruitment cycle starts (usually in the following Autumn).
When do you start to review applications?
All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we advise submitting your application in advance of the application deadline date.
Are there opportunities to intern with CIL?
Yes, we look to recruit eight to ten summer interns to start each July (two to three in each of offices). Internships are eight weeks long and it is important that candidates are available for the whole duration.
Does CIL offer shorter work experience opportunities outside of the summer internship?
Unfortunately, we do not provide wider work experience opportunities outside of the areas mentioned above.
I'm a student looking for an industrial placement. Does CIL support this?
Yes, we offer industrial placements in our South West office in the UK for students from certain universities – we currently work with Bath, Exeter and Cardiff Universities.
When do graduate applications open and how large is each intake?
We accept graduate applications from September though to mid-November, although this isn’t fixed and we do extend application deadlines for certain intakes. We look to recruit up to 20 analysts in September across our offices and up to 10 analysts in our April intake.
I have a PhD or an MBA – are there any specific entry points for people who have those qualifications?
We have no specific entry point aimed at either PhD or MBA candidates, but would encourage anyone with these qualifications to review our job role descriptions and apply for the level at which they feel best suited.
I've been working for a few years, but I have never worked in consulting before. Is there any scope to join CIL as an experienced hire?
Most of our experienced hires have had some previous experience within strategy consulting. We do however accept applications for analyst roles from people who have no directly relevant consulting experience.
